Presentation of the Institutional Web Site of the Mother Church of St. Nicholas in Avola
Saturday 18 May 2019 at 8.00 pm at the Chiesa Madre San Nicolò in Avola, the new institutional website of the Mother Church of Avola was presented to the parish community, the city and the press www.chiesamadreavola.it. The Web Site was presented by Archpriest Parish priest Fr. Rosario Sultana together with Webmaster Buscema Gaetano, and the secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, Professor Enrica Munafò, will moderate the meeting. Participation in the event was numerous, enthusiastic and attentive.Chiesamadreavola.it is a totally dynamic site, it presents a fresh and lively graphic layout with colors that immediately strike the attention and that makes the navigation very intuitive. The site is totally responsive to keep up with the times. It is Social to provide visitors with greater interaction and sharing with all major Social Networks. The SSL Certificate is installed on the site, in other words a technology that guarantees the security of a secure internet connection that protects sensitive data. The site presents the pastoral life, the history and art of the Chiesa San Nicolò Church in macro areas, as well as news, agenda and events, photo galleries, and finally our contacts and how to reach us. The site has some areas in dual Italian-English language, in particular the News, History and Art area, edited by Prof. Gringeri Pantano (art historian) who provided us with the texts and made available the scientific study of the information therein contained. “The occasion of the presentation of a new institutional website of a Parish – recalled Don Sultana – like that of the Mother Church of Avola, becomes an opportunity to evangelize in a favorable time like ours, to remind us that the Church by its nature it is missionary, carries out a task by divine will: to announce the Word of God with contemporary means and languages in Agora always new, as may be the digital environment that we are called to inhabit within the internet network. Also Pope Francis remember: “The world is getting smaller and smaller, and we are getting closer to each other. My friends on social networks, beyond the fact that they live in Brazil or Italy, are always at the distance of a click. We are all more connected and interdependent ». Then “the digital network can be a place rich in humanity, not a network of wires, but of people”, the Pope writes: “the internet can offer more opportunities for meeting and solidarity among all, and this is a good thing , Is a gift from God. The network is an opportunity to promote the encounter with others. The web and the web are a resource of our time, a source of knowledge and relationships that were once unthinkable », for this reason the new Web site of the Chiesa Madre San Nicolò di Avola is born and takes life. We are an “outgoing Church” our beloved Pontiff would say. Therefore in the mandate of Jesus to make disciples of all nations, there are always new scenarios and challenges of the Church’s evangelizing mission, and we are all called to this “new missionary exit” and thus reach all the peripheries that need the light of Gospel. The Parish Priest of the Mother Church of Avola don Sultana, considers the presence of the networked parishes on the web, a strategic element for a new evangelization so that the world believes. A study of 2019 tells us that the whole world is dependent on the internet. On average, each of us, every day, spends 6 hours and 42 minutes connected to the network, of which 2 hours and 15 minutes through mobile devices. Over the course of a year, we spend 100 days attached to the computer or smartphone, about 27% of all the time we have available. This – says Don Sultana – makes us understand the urgency of living in these spaces to speak about life and the world and say it as Christians, communicating all the good that is in our lives and in our communities. According to Don Sultana, the Internet has become a place and a space in which parishes cannot miss.
